Spectacular Bank-Holiday Weekend Had By All!

WOW – The staff at The Ivanhoe Hotel, Scarborough know how to throw a bank-holiday weekend party!

On Friday night, the Landlady and your ‘Hostess with the Mostest’, took you all on a unique Quiz’oke experience – a Special ‘Snakes ‘n’ Ladders’ themed quiz. Where contestants had to answer questions to gain points, which then allowed them to move up (or DOWN!!) the score-board, followed with a bit of karaoke and ‘Play Your Cards Right’ for a super evening of fun. Congratulations to Julian and Becky for getting to the top first! Quiz’oke returns next Friday hosted by MSL Entertainment’s very own Mike Seals-Law, 8:00pm.

Saturday was filled with song, laughter and tears as ex-employee, local singer/songwriter and one half of Scarborough’s STEREO JACKS, Liam Galashan attempted to achieve his target of raising £1000 for his chosen charity, The Mental Health Foundation. Liam has undertaken numerous activities to hit his target and on Saturday hosted a ‘Sing-a-Round’ at The Ivanhoe Hotel; consisting of cake stalls, raffles, singing and more. A night filled with music, ‘Sing-a-Round’ allowed people to get up and perform by putting their song-requests down along with a small donation, then either with a live performer or by backing track, allowed volunteers to get up and perform. Tickets cost £5 each, giving each customer a free hot dog or burger with fries, which were generously donated by Jeannette and Julian, of The Ivanhoe Hotel. Later on in the evening, Charlie Shaw from the Soul Bro’s Blues Brothers Tribute Act, attempted to raise some more money through a sponsored leg-wax, with Katie Doubtfire doing with deed. All-in-all, a total of £508.59 was raised – can we congratulate Liam and everybody else that was involved – WELL DONE!

Bank Holiday Sunday consisted of an evening of soul and blues as local entertainers,  Charlie Shaw and Mike Seals-Law, collectively known as The Soul Bros, paid tribute to John Belushi’s ”Joliet’ Jake Blues’ & Dan Aykroyd’s ‘Elwood Blues’ – The Blues Brothers! Performing many of the hit numbers made famous by the Blues Brothers, The Soul Bros had guests up and out of their seats as they shook their tail feathers and twisted the night away. Keep an eye-out on Soul Bro’s – ‘Blues Brothers’ Tribute Facebook Page for upcoming gigs, or to book for a private party.

Bank Holiday Monday saw an evening of fabulous ‘Demonstration of Clairvoyance and Medium-ship’ with special guest psychic Eddie Peace and Private Tarot readings were provided by psychics June Walsh Grainger & Linda Standing. Next up is Angela May Atkinson & David Pinch at the Ivanhoe Hotel, Scalby Mills Rd Scarborough, North Yorkshire. YO12 6RW on Monday 15th May 2017 – Admission £5.
